A 3-Day African Diaspora Healing Experience
Goal
The goal of Diaspora Sol is to connect scholars, community organizers, and artists throughout the African Diaspora to build anti-racist solidarity across borders and encourage community through music, to "love one another and support one another" because "we have nothing to lose but our chains.” -Assata Shakur
Objective
Our objective is to exchange ideas on how to dismantle anti-black, anti-indigenous, racist, transphobic, homophobic, sexist, ableist institutions that exist in our respective communities.Through exploring the politics of black hair, hip hop as a tool of activism, and the work of women in community organizing we will be creating a space to discuss how the African Diaspora can move beyond surviving to thriving.
